An air conditioner is like any other machine: small, regular care saves you expensive repairs later. These are the points we recommend to our customers most often.<\/p>\n
This is the most important and the easiest step. A dusty filter blocks airflow, so the unit works harder, draws more power and cools less. In summer with daily use, clean them every two to four weeks.<\/p>\n
A full service covers the indoor unit, the outdoor unit and the pipework. The best timing is just before summer starts, so the unit enters the season at full efficiency.<\/p>\n
Every cold start draws a very high current. If you are coming back to the room within half an hour, leaving it running is better than switching it off and on.<\/p>\n
Every degree lower raises consumption noticeably. Setting it to 16 does not cool the room any faster \u2014 that is a common myth. It just keeps the unit running longer.<\/p>\n
The outdoor unit needs air moving around it. Do not stack things in front of it or cover it, and if it sits in direct sun all day, a shade is worth adding \u2014 while still leaving space for ventilation.<\/p>\n
Obvious, but often forgotten. Any air leak keeps the unit running without ever reaching your set temperature.<\/p>\n
Do not put these off: a small issue such as a refrigerant leak can end up destroying the compressor, which is the most expensive part of the system.<\/p>\n
